Care for leather shoes

Leather is one of those materials that genuinely rewards care. A few simple habits can keep your shoes looking great and lasting years longer than you'd expect.

Step 1: Clean Start with a good clean before anything else. If your shoes have been weatherproofed, this step is noticeably easier. For smooth leather, a damp cloth or soft sponge does the job well. Nubuck prefers dry cleaning of with a foam cleaner, using a specialist brush or cleaning rubber. Keep in mind that nubuck absorbs more and needs extra drying time.

Step 2: Nourish Leather needs moisture to stay supple and crack-free. Pick a conditioner or cream suited to your specific leather type, and apply it regularly — not just when the shoes start to look tired. Always follow the product instructions to avoid over-saturating the material.

Step 3: Weatherproof A good weatherproofing spray is your shoes' best defence against water, mud, and everyday dirt. Apply it to clean, dry leather — and importantly, always weatherproof before the first wear and after every nourishing treatment.

Stick to these three steps and you will help your leather shoes to stay in great shape.
